Slinging Mud

The Venus de Miles cycling event which celebrates leadership, volunteerism, sisterhood, and the environment, was set to take place on Sept. 29 in Boulder County. Due to the recent floods in the area, the event was cancelled. In lieu of the biking event, riders were given the opportunity to have fun while helping out others in need.

A group of 25 Venus de Miles riders, including a handful of women from WhiteWave, showed up at Mudslingers, a community organized flood relief group, to spend the day helping people impacted by the floods.

The group worked on a farm north of Boulder that had suffered great devastation to its land and barn. Together, they dug two feet of mud out of the barn, moved truckloads of unsalvageable items to a dump station and dug out trees so their roots could survive.

At the end of the day, the women cleaned up and attended the Venus de Miles celebration where they were treated to great food and drinks, and a tremendous sense of community.

If you’d like to help out too and sling some mud with great people, find mudslingers on Facebook:

Calling All Female Colorado Cyclists

For the third year, WhiteWave is proud to sponsor Venus de Miles, an all-women fundraising cycling event which celebrates leadership, volunteerism, sisterhood, and the environment. This year’s bike ride through Boulder County will take place on September 29 and WhiteWave has more than 80 employees participating in the ride. Go WhiteWave women, go!

Proceeds from the ride benefit the Greenhouse Scholars, a not-for-profit Boulder foundation that helps high-performing, under-resourced college students.

Join WhiteWave and hundreds of women for a great ride as well as a post-ride celebration of spa services, gourmet food and exhibitors with women-specific products and services.  Visit http:/ to register to ride, volunteer or donate. During the event, WhiteWave Foods will distribute single serve boxes of Silk® soymilk and Horizon Organic® milk at aid stations along the course and will be offering International Delight® coffee creamers at the pre-race coffee station.
